Q.Who we are?
Heirtrace is a people finding service working for the legal and financial industries to trace beneficiaries who are often due, for various reasons, to receive money or assets.
We are registered in England, Company number 4807123 and our records can be consulted at Companies House. We are not an internet company with a hidden identity, and our registered office (address on this website) is in Newmarket, near Cambridge, and 60 miles north of London. Personal visitors are welcome.
Q.Who pays What and to Whom?
In most instances, because of our reputation, we have already been paid a searching fee by the executors or solicitors who are administering an estate. Therefore no further payment is due to us, and this will be made clear in the letter you have received. In such instances we simply ask you to confirm that the facts as stated in the letter you have received are correct, and then your contact details will be passed to the relevant firm or solicitors. Subject to the usual checks you should then receive the funds, assets or artefacts which are due to you.
If you have any questions please contact us.
Q.Who do Heirtrace work on behalf of?
A. Heirtrace is a UK registered limited company that assists large financial companies, solicitors, charities and membership organisation to trace customers, supporters and those to whom they would like to return unclaimed assets.
Q.Why have you contacted me?
A. We have contacted you because a company or a solicitor has appointed us to trace individuals, who are either:-
• Owed money or shares from a financial institution
• Are owed a share of an estate.
• Or a member or supporter of a charity or membership organisation whom they would like to get in touch with again.
Q.Is there a catch?
A. There are no catches. Heirtrace provides a useful and legal service for our clients who want to trace their customers, usually to return unclaimed assets to them. This money typically remains unclaimed for the following reasons:-
• those entitled to the money or shares have moved or changed their addresses and have not informed the company or its Registrar
• the original claimant has died
• documents have been lost in the post or after delivery
Q.Will it cost me anything to reclaim my assets?
A. Heirtrace only work under circumstances where the payment has already been made or agreed by the financial company or solicitor. We never request payment from you, the beneficiary.
Q. How did you get my name and address and how can I be sure that you are really working on behalf of an organisation in which I have unclaimed assets?
A. Your name and details of your relationship to the company we are working on behalf of is provided by our client. We use this information along with information held in the public domain to trace you to your current address. If you have any queries about this, please don’t hesitate to call us on 01638 663936.
Q.When will I receive my money?
A. This will depend on your particular case, if this information has not already been provided in the letter we have sent you. Please call our 01638 663936 for further information.
Q.I have received a letter from Heirtrace addressed to a claimant who no longer lives at this address. What should I do?
A. If you can provide a forwarding address for the claimant, please advise us so that we can write to them again. Please then destroy the letter you received. If you have no address but do know the name of the estate agency which managed the sale/purchase of the property, this will be very helpful.
Q.I would like more help in understanding the letter you have sent me. What should I do?
A. Just call us on 01638 663936 and we will be happy to assist you.
